Last Gen Arcade

Your resident GamerBois takes on this classic from the era and holds it under the microscope. Does it deserve the praise, or should it chase chickens?

Take a trip to L'Chateau Beans and take a peak behind the flim-flam curtain of gaming's most infamous PT Barnum: Peter Molyneux.

Molyneux is among the most notorious personalities in gaming, but we probably wouldn't know him from any other bean if it wasn't for the release of Lionhead's and Big Blue Box Studio's 2004 release of "Fable."

But where does this story start? Why is Molyneux so hated in the industry? Why do we keep saying beans?

You're going to have to listen to find out.

GAME OVER, MAN!

The video game industry has definitely had its fair share of flubs and controversies. However, almost no other studio has been slapped as hard with these issues as Gearbox Studios—known for its iconic Borderlands series, as well as well-documented disasters Duke Nukem Forever and, of course, Aliens: Colonial Marines.

And because Will and Nate love a good disaster story, this time they're diving into the story of what eventually became Aliens: Colonial Marines. Here, our heroes uncover what seems to be a tangled, wiry mess of backroom business deals, shady marketing tactics, and poor project management, which in some ways eerily echoes development stories like Cyberpunk 2077.

So grab your pulse rifle, lock and load, and let's take a look at one of the biggest bombshells to hit gaming in the 2010's!

On this very special episode of the Next Gen Arcade, the boys get all cozy, snuggly, and warm as they celebrate the year and talk about some of the new-ish games that caught their eyes.

They also talk about The Game Awards, particularly Christopher Judge's win for best performance, and Nathan pulls the curtain back on Microsoft's behind-the-scenes legal troubles.

And, of course, we talk about Assassin's Creed at least once in this video. Happy holidays everyone!

It ain't easy being an Italian plumber on Dinosaur Island, which is why the boys at LGA have invited newcomer onto the podcast Braden Thorvaldson from the What?! Explain to show them the way!

But how does the peak of platforming compare to today's classics? Does Will actually beat the game? Will Nate complain about Chris Pratt? All this and more in our review for Super Mario World

The sadbois are jumping back into the SNES era with arguably one of the most popular launch titles in Nintendo's history: Super Mario World!

In a time where Nintendo was the definitive console KING for years, the company finds itself at a crossroads: reinvent the Nintendo Entertainment System, or get swept away by the competition.

Super Mario World's development history is smack dab in the middle of this new challenge as developers like rockstar Shigeru Miyamoto and his ragtag team look at how they can bring everybody's favourite plumber into the 16-bit generation.

Will the newest game in the historic series stand toe-to-toe to the new kids on the block like Sega, or is it all just a pipe dream?

Listen to find out!

Fighting through hordes of Ganados can be pretty scary stuff, especially if you gotta protect the President's daughter at the same time. Thankfully, the bois^tm have hired Special UK Agent Drew Morrell to help them wade through this villainous village and review this watershed moment in gaming history.

Can spinning heel kicks 1-shot an unsuspecting zombie? Is it possible to be as handsome as Leon? And does the game hold up today?

Well, you're already here so you might as well listen!

We're back, everyone!

After a short hiatus, our sadboi heroes return to share tales of their adventures, celebrate some huge life achievements, and talk about the games, books, and movies that helped them along the way.

On our first episode back, we go over how Will has used Skyrim to help him do more cardio, Nathan's journey through The Last of Us: Remastered, and a plethora of indie titles like Tunic and My Friend Pedro.

It's good to be back.
